Consumer Reports rates Farmers Insurance Worse! Consumer Reports rated 20 homeowner insurance companies based on their reader's claim experience. Farmers Insurance finished in last place and was the only company on the list that was rated "Worse" for both "Problems with Claim" and "Delayed Payments". This rating is based on 14,243 respondents to Consumer Reports 2003 Annual Questionnaire who filed claims between January 2000 and April 2003, with the number of claims for each company ranging from 152 to almost 5,300. The report is dated September 2004 and is available to online subscribers. In Consumer Report's ratings of overall satisfaction with auto insurance companies, Farmers Insurance was one of the Worst! In the March 2006 issue of Consumer Reports, in an article entitled "Auto Insurance: Choosing an insurer that pays" Farmers Insurance was rated one of the Worst. It was ranked 25th out of 27 companies. Consumer Reports surveyed 21,228 subscribers who filed a claim between Jan 2001 and spring of 2004. Farmers Insurance gets Worst ratings from JD Powers and Associates Farmers Insurance received the worst ratings from JD Powers 2007 Collision Repair Satisfaction Study, It got their worst rating for "Overall Experience", "Claim Settlement ", "Claim Representative ” and "Claim Process and Procedures". Overall Experience is how customers rate the overall collision repair experience. Claim Settlement is how customers rate the fairness of the claim settlement issued by the insurer handling the claim. Claim Representative is how customers rate the insurer representative/agent handling the claim. Claim Process & Procedures is how customers rate the insurance company based on the claims process. Power and Associates 2005 Homeowners Insurance Study, Overall Satisfaction with Homeowners Insurance was ranked below the industry average. J.D. Power and Associates surveyed 5,752 customers who'd had collision repairs done in the past 12 months and Farmers Insurance trailed badly in the survey. Collision repair shops rated Farmers Insurance below-average with a grade of D plus or worse. "Often, this is the first time they truly become familiar with their insurance policy. Farmers at the Bottom! Oregon body shops rate insurance companies. Not surprisingly Farmers Insurance was rated the worst!
